Hello, friends!
It's 35 minutes until day one of novel planning is finished, and I must say that it has most certainly been a productive first day. Firstly, I wrote down my three main ideas that I have had for ages - I named them 'Confidence', 'Ghost' and 'Josey', just to make it easier for me to know which I am talking about. I quickly wrote about how the plots could improve, and the reasons why I always start then stop writing them.
I ended up flipping a coin to choose between Confidence and Ghost. Confidence was the winner. With that one, I needed more substance and stronger characters. I've always had issues with characterisation, but in this story, it was really bad because I kept changing the entire personality of my central character.
I started my planning! I've decided to loosely base my planning on the Snowflake Method which I used in the past, but it failed. I think that I was following the steps too closely, so now I've been trying to just use it as a guide. This has definitely been working for me!
So far I've written a one sentence summary, and paragraph summary and basic character sheets on three of my characters. Bare in mind I have been room cleaning and partying tonight, so I haven't done as much as I have liked.
I was so on a roll (especially with name picking) that I didn't even want to go to this party tonight. Although I'm so glad I did, because the party was amazing! Just clarifying, this was a dinner party, not a rave or anything. Just sayin'.
So, I'm hoping to do a bit more now, but I'm on protecting-the-dog-while-there's-a-thunderstorm duty while my parents are sleeping, so I don't think that I will be getting much done at all! I means, it's taking me AGES just to write this blog post!
Look forward to writing more!

Let's Get Started
If you've managed to find this blog, then welcome! My name is Ashlee, but wish to change to my middle name, Renae. I've just turned 17!
About two or three years ago, I was writing a lot, mostly fanfiction and stories with self inserts, and I didn't really care about what I was writing and how badly written it was. To be honest, I wish to go back to that, but I also want to write a novel of some sort. I have three main ideas, and I've tried to write each of them. The farthest I got was 15,000 words (that was for NaNoWriMo last year). It just seems that when I start writing, I get into it, but after a couple of paragraphs, I just happen to stop, and I don't know why. Is it because I have no idea where the story is going? Don't find the story interesting? Don't have any imagination at all?
Personally, I think that it is a combination of all three, and I want to try to get past those problems. This is where this blog come in. So that I have motivation to keep going with my writing, I'm going to write a bi-daily blog post documenting my process. This way, I will feel guilty if I haven't done any work, and it will force me to get past these problems.
Who knows, maybe a novel will come out of this!
Ciao x
